In this single-session workshop, artist Molly Murphy Adams will teach and demonstrate utilizing simple embroidery techniques to alter vintage photos, postcards, and mixed paper media. Embroidery techniques will include thread embroidery and bead embroidery. Molly will share the lessons and techniques she has learned altering a variety of vintage and new paper media. You’ll combine paper media and fiber techniques to create unique compositions and provocative unions of disparate images.
You’re encouraged to bring vintage ads, postcards or photos that you’re OK with altering or destroying. Please also bring any beads, jewelry findings of scrap fabric that you may want to incorporate into your works.
Murphy Adams specializes in sculptural fiber art and printmaking. Her work blends historic and contemporary needlework techniques to illustrate modern narratives.
