Paper and silk scarf marbling

This Fiber Focus Series workshop is presented in partnership with 108 Contemporary

Marbling is the process of floating paints on the surface of a thick cellulose solution, called size. In this one time course, you’ll learn the traditional printmaking technique of marbling on both paper and silk.

The course includes a general overview of marbling throughout history and addresses basic tools and materials. You’ll learn how to prepare your size, paper, and fabric, how to apply your paint to the size, and how to print your design.
