About the Exhibition
In this site-specific installation unique to the ahha Tulsa Hardesty Center, Krista Jo Mustain of PRINT PARTY and Sarah Sullivan of SULLYSTRING will transform the interior of THE GALLERY into a celebration of electric color, playful pattern, and organic forms. Together, their murals and sculpture will resonate with viewers seeking an exuberant experience with the very elements of art and design.
Mitochroma will evolve over the course of the exhibition. During the CREATE gala, Mustain and Sullivan will debut an additional sculpture for the signature event.
About the Artists
Krista Jo Mustain creates transformative environments for people who are serious about fun. Through the use of murals and hand-dyed textiles, Mustain experiments with combining bold colors and further developing her lexicon of patterns and symbols. Her practice is driven by an obsession with color, a craving to cover every surface in vibrant patterns, and a desire to celebrate everyday activities.
Sarah Sullivan of SULLYSTRING is a self-described dreamweaver and a rugrat. As both a fiber artist and painter, Sullivan creates an escape from the hard, digital world through an abstract confetti of color and texture. She draws inspiration from pasta noodles, children’s books, and reinterpreting memories of geometry class. Sullivan hopes her work transports people to a place of pure, simple joy and curiosity.
