Immersive head trip fantasy experience
Created by The Flaming Lips
One of Oklahoma’s most well-known rock bands is bringing an original, immersive sculpture back to Tulsa for a second showing. The King’s Mouth was a guest in ahha Tulsa’s lobby in 2019-2020 before its run was unexpectedly cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Guests who may have experienced our earlier showing of The King’s Mouth will be treated to a larger immersive sculpture experience and new location.
Guests of ahha Tulsa’s October 1 CREATE gala will be the first to see the installation. Beginning October 5, Music and art fans can also visit The King’s Mouth during ahha’s regular hours: Wednesdays through Saturdays 12:00-9:00 PM and Sundays 12:00-7:00 PM. Tickets to the October 1 CREATE gala start at $100 and are available at www.creategala.org. General admission tickets to ahha Tulsa may be reserved online or purchased at the door.
The King’s Mouth had been an interactive party staple at The Womb (created by The Flaming Lips in Oklahoma City) since 2011. It made its public debut at the American Visionary Art Museum 4 years later in 2015 and was featured at Meow Wolf in 2018. Most recently it visited Ogden Contemporary Arts in Ogden, Utah.
King’s Mouth’s immersive, hypnotic story is a fun adventure for the whole family. Its LED light strands and surround sound music make it a unique and enlightening experience. The story of King’s Mouth is exhibited in a series of original two-dimensional works of art by frontman Wayne Coyne and is accompanied with t-shirts and an album of music and songs written and performed by The Flaming Lips.
The King’s Mouth is included with public admission at ahha Tulsa starting October 5, 2022 and welcomes you to climb inside.
