This session leads students to a conceptual understanding of the ways sound is organized to create music. The Tulsa Symphony Wind Quintet asks students to define music and identify its building blocks – rhythm, pitch, dynamics, and timbre. Performance selections provide opportunities for students to practice active listening, and brief instrument demonstrations illuminate the basic science behind sound production.
